Understanding the Flags

YELLOW: (waiving or standing) NO PASSING at all.
RED: This is the most important flag. If this is displayed, it means ALL riders on the track must slow down and EXIT the track at pit out.

BLACK: This flag will be for a specific rider on the track. If the black flag is pointed at a rider, that rider must promptly move out of the race line and immediately display there intention to exit the track by raising his/her left hand up. The raised hand signal also notifies other riders that he/she is off pace. Once the rider is off the race line, that rider must exit the track at pit out. In some cases the rider which has been "Black Flagged" will be instructed to exit the track where ever possible.(i.e. leaking oil)

WHITE: The white flag means that there is one lap remaining in the session. This flag is not always used. The decision to use the white flag is different at every racetrack.

CHECKERED: This flag indicates that the session is over and all riders should start planning their exit off of the track. When the Checkered flag is displayed all riders must reduce speed and proceed to the pit out.

Requirements for passing Tech inspection

RIDERS MEETING at 8:15am
TECH INSPECTION opens at 7:30am and CLOSES at 9:00am
TECH closes at approximately 9:00am and general “Tech” will not reopen until 12:00pm. We have made these changes to maximize safety as well as track time. If you show up after “Tech” closes you will not be allowed to enter the track until your bike has been through “Tech” and you have been cleared to participate. If a rider crashes during there session, before they are allowed back on the racetrack there motorcycle must be re-teched. No exceptions.

Rider groups

The NYSBC normally runs three groups per season. On the odd occasion the club may choose to run a different amount of groups.

Group 3 – This group is used to introduce all first riders to the track. Group 3 is also for novice riders who have been on the track before but are still in the learning stages. In this group here will be no passing in any turns. However, passing is allowed on the straights. This group is heavily monitored by control riders and instructors. Riders may only pass control riders with permission.

Group 2 – This group is for riders who have been on the track before and are comfortable with the track environment. Passing in this group is allowed on the outside of turns and on straights. This group is also heavily monitored by control riders and instructors. Riders may pass control riders only under safe conditions.

Group 1 – This group is for experienced riders running at higher speeds. To be admitted to this group, you must be approved by a member of the NYSBC staff. This group will exhibit race like conditions with the exception of stuffing and other highly aggressive racing techniques. Control riders are present in this group just as a precaution.
